River of Gold
I am a wandering minstrel boy, my words are old and worn
My dreams of gods and glory by the waves of time are torn
But tomorrow there’s an old man dying and a baby being born
As I search the world for a way to the river of gold
There are many more beside me lord who believe that they’ve been blessed
You can say that I’m another dreamer, just like all the rest
But I don’t pretend to know the rules and I haven’t passed the test
As I walk the rugged road to the river of gold
River of gold, how many have tried to walk your water and swim your tide
But no one ever seems satisfied with what their fortunes find

There are many who will sell their souls for nothing and never think twice
And others who will hold out for a piece of paradise
